DB BIM Fair

The first DB BIM fair took place in Berlin on the third of May. Under the leadership of the member of the boar responsible for infrastructure, Ronald Pofalla, the Deutsche Bahn AG (German Railway) corporation invited long-term partners who have leading roles in working for the railway in the field of BIM.

At this fair, it was important for the Deutsche Bahn that the partners master the complex geometric requirements of the railway and develop digital standards for the railway system together with the German Railways. This is the only way to enable the cultural shift towards cooperative project collaboration, in order to implement the ambitious BIM strategy before 2020. This calls for the introduction of BIM in three stages: initialization, piloting, and professionalization. By the end of 2020, all new standardizable as well as complex projects will be planned with BIM.

In 13 pilot projects supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, the feasibility of working with the current state of BIM is being put to the test. A+S is active in several projects, as the provider of the BIM platform KorFin and in a consulting role.

At their stand, A+S presented the newest technologies in the field of BIM -- for route planning as well as for the fields of environment and noise planning, CCS and OLA conflict analyses as well as volume-cost analyses.
