Flexible, digital systems for rail-based transportation in growth regions
A+S Consult has been working in a consortium on the FlexiDug project since 2021. The goal of this research project is to develop a sustainable utilization concept for factory railroads to open up local transport in structurally weak regions. This is being tested in Lusatia with FlexiDug in order to make the region more attractive as a residential and industrial location. In addition, an exemplary structure of a digital twin, including a BIM data model, is to be designed for the existing plant railway network in a uniform digital environment. The FlexiDug project also aims to develop sensor networks to secure rail infrastructure in former mining regions, as well as dynamic, digital control and safety technology.
A+S Consult is setting up a pilot section of the rail network of Lausitz Energie BErgbau AG (LEAG) with a total length of around 390 kilometers and developing a digital twin.
The proect, which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, will be caried out by the industrial partners DB Systel, A+S Consult Dresden, DB Regio, LEAG, and the academic partners BTU Cottbus, TU Chemnitz, TU Berlin and HPI in the years 2021 – 2024.
