KorFin® User seminar March 5 & 6, 2020

From the 5^th to the 6^th of March, 2020, representatives from planning companies, construction companies, industry and science came to the KorFin® user seminar in the Bilderberg Bellevue Hotel Dresden, at the invitation of A+S Consult GmbH. More than 120 participants from, among others Autobahn GmBH des Bundes, DEGES, road construction administrations of different German states, DB AG, DB Netze, DB Station and Service, DB E&C, EBA, Deutsches Schienenverkehrsforschungszentrum (German Train Transport Research Center), various transmission and distribution network operators, large, medium, and small service providers of the engineering industry for project management and planning as well as medium and large construction companies, attended the user seminar.

Dresden’s mayor for construction, Raoul Schmidt-Lamontain, and the managing director of Silicon Saxony e.V. Frank Bösenberg, opened the event. buildingSmart e.V. was represented by managing director Gunther Wöfle, and the management of the German software houses CARD/1 and VESTRA were also present. All representatives agreed that a special BIM form for infrastructure – IIM (Infrastructure Information Modelling) – is practically necessary.

The event became a real stage for lively exchange in day-to-day work through expert lectures, panel discussions and workshops. A number of medium and large projects with successful BIM/IIM applications from the life cycle Digital Twin/As-built models, GIS based BIM/IIM applications, BIM/IIM data models for railway, road, energy infrastructure in inventory, planning, construction and maintenance were presented. In addition, applications for CAD2IIM were presented, including AI applications for deriving BIM/IIM input data or data models from old analog documents. An important point in the discussion was available data sources and existing interfaces between common software systems and their interaction on the open data platform KorFin®.
